LIFE BEYOND THE MAP YOU WERE GIVEN

About me

What fifteen years between countries taught me.

I grew up in southern Poland, and life later took me through the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia before bringing me back to Kraków. Living between countries taught me that a move changes more than an address. It can reshape how we see ourselves, where we belong and what we want next.

What do we carry with us, and what are we ready to leave behind? These questions were the beginning of New Ground. I created this space out of a desire for genuine connection with people who have chosen a less conventional path, or who are only beginning to question the path laid out for them. I draw on my own experience of living across cultures, together with thoughtful questions and tools from my training in coaching.

“Sometimes changing your surroundings changes how you see yourself. That is where the real work begins.”
A moment of change

Does this sound familiar?

You may recognize one or more of these thoughts.

  • Maybe I am not lost. Maybe I have been following a map drawn by someone else.
  • I am preparing to move and want to understand what is pulling me towards it.
  • I moved somewhere new, and it changed how I see myself.
  • I miss “home”, but I am not sure home is really what I am missing.
  • I do not need someone to fix me. I need space to think clearly.
  • I do not want to turn everything upside down. I want to understand what is worth keeping and what needs to change.
How New Ground works

A new chapter without burning bridges.

For me, Ground means finding your footing. Before choosing a new direction, it helps to see where you stand, what matters to you and what you want to carry forward.

Small, safe experiments help you explore what comes next. Begin with a workbook on your own or a coaching conversation. You can bring your reflections to a conversation later, too.

FAQ

A few things you may want to know.

What is New Ground?

New Ground is a project created by Magdalena Dubaj for people preparing for a move, living abroad or wondering whether the map they are following is one they chose for themselves. You can use a workbook to reflect in your own time or choose a one to one coaching conversation.

Who is the free workbook for?

It is for anyone preparing for a move, considering a major change or wanting to understand what is drawing them towards the unknown. You can use it entirely on your own.

What does a 1:1 coaching conversation look like?

It is a coaching conversation based on thoughtful, open questions. I do not tell you what to do. I help you name what matters, reach your own answers and choose a next step that feels right for you.

Are you a coach?

Yes. I have completed professional coach training and I am currently working towards a professional coaching credential. My coaching conversations use focused questions to help you find your own answers and choose next steps aligned with your goals.

Do I need to know exactly what I want before I write?

No. A few sentences about what is changing are enough. I will reply personally, and we can decide whether a coaching conversation would be useful.

Is this a substitute for therapy?

No. Coaching conversations and workbooks do not provide psychotherapy, diagnosis or mental health treatment. If you need therapeutic or crisis support, please contact a qualified mental health professional or an appropriate local crisis service.

Which languages and formats are available?

The workbook is available in English and Polish. 1:1 coaching conversations can also take place in either language, online or in person in Kraków.

Privacy

Your data, explained clearly.

Last updated: 19 September 2026.

Who controls your data?

The controller of your personal data is Magdalena Dubaj. I decide why and how personal data collected through New Ground is used. For privacy matters, contact me at [email protected].

What do I collect and why?

When you request the free workbook, I use your email address to deliver it and help if delivery fails. The basis is my legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR in responding to a request you initiate, delivering the file and resolving delivery problems.

When you submit feedback through a testimonial form, I use your name and email address to verify the response and your comments to review it. Verification and managing feedback rely on my legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Publishing your comments and chosen credit relies on your voluntary consent under Article 6(1)(a), which you may withdraw at any time.

When you write about a paid workbook or coaching, I use the information in your message to reply and, where relevant, take steps towards an agreement. The basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. For other correspondence and to establish or defend legal claims, the basis is my legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f).

The free workbook form includes a separate, optional, unchecked choice to receive occasional emails about new workbooks, reflection resources and my offers. I use your email for these messages only if you choose this option, based on your voluntary consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Who receives the data?

I use Carrd Inc. to host the site and operate its forms, MailerLite Limited in Ireland to receive workbook requests, send the requested file and manage optional subscriptions to updates, and Google services to handle email and testimonial forms. These providers receive only the data needed to provide their service. MailerLite processes form data on my behalf and states that subscriber data for customers in the EEA is stored in the European Union.

Carrd is based in the United States and states that technical data may be processed there using safeguards required by applicable law. Google states that its international transfers use the Data Privacy Framework between the European Union and the United States and, where required, Standard Contractual Clauses. You may ask me for current information about the safeguards. Read the privacy information from Carrd, MailerLite and Google.

Twój StartUp does not receive data from the free workbook form. Before any paid checkout or invoice is enabled, I will provide the sales and privacy information that applies to that transaction.

How long do I keep the data?

Data from a workbook request remain in MailerLite after the file is sent. They are not deleted automatically and currently remain there until manual deletion; no fixed deletion schedule has been set. Completion of delivery and any related assistance is the point at which their continued need should be reviewed. The workbook form adds you to the updates group only if you tick the optional box.

If you opt in to updates, your email stays on that list until you unsubscribe or I stop sending these messages. MailerLite may retain a limited record of your withdrawal to prevent further sending. Ordinary correspondence and unpublished feedback are not deleted automatically either. They require manual review after the matter is closed or a decision about publication is made. A specific legal obligation or claim may require longer retention. Published comments and the chosen credit remain until you withdraw consent or publication is no longer needed. You may ask me to delete your data, subject to legal exceptions.

What are your rights?

You may ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and portability where applicable. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing. Write to [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the President of the Polish Personal Data Protection Office at uodo.gov.pl.

Is providing data required?

Providing data is voluntary, but I need your email address to deliver the workbook or reply. The paid-guide enquiry form asks for your name, email and message so I can reply. The updates choice on the free-workbook form is optional. I do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects, and I do not use such profiling.

What about cookies and technical data?

I do not currently use advertising or audience analytics tools on this site. Carrd and other service providers may process an IP address, browser and device information, date and time, server logs, and technologies necessary to display, secure and operate the site. This is based on the legitimate interest in keeping the site available and secure. If I add tools that are not technically necessary, I will update this notice and ask for consent where required.
